Food Truck of the Moment: Tabe BBQ Fusion

If you’re a San Diego local, you know there’s an abundance of delicious Mexican and Asian cuisine to experience. However, there are some eateries in San Diego that combine both cultural cuisines and offer a unique (but also familiar) Mexican-Asian fusion dish! The Tabe BBQ Fusion truck takes elements from both popular Mexican and Korean dishes to create an amazing and tasteful meal.

Their most popular menu items are the OMG Korean BBQ tacos and burritos, where marinated Korean ribs or seasoned chicken are put in a traditional taco shell or burrito alongside Mexican-style vegetables and sauces. Another highly recommended dish and one we have personally tried and loved is the Tabe Asada Fries which are skinny-cut fries mixed with cheeses, onions, peppers, hot sauce, and of course Korean BBQ beef.

If you can’t decide between Asian or Mexican takeout for dinner, get the best of both worlds and locate a Tabe BBQ Fusion food truck near you!

Ramen is the latest food trend that has taken San Diego by storm! While authentic asian cuisine has always had a home on Convoy St, delicious ramen shops have been popping up all over San Diego. With two locations in the Little Italy and North Park neighborhoods, Underbelly is one of the highest rated ramen restaurants on Yelp and for good reason: it’s simply delicious!

Underbelly’s most popular ramen dishes are the Underbelly and Belly of the Beast entrees. The Underbelly ramen features soft boiled egg, char-siu belly, applewood smoked bacon, and adobo pulled pork topped with all of your favorite traditional ramen toppings. The Belly of the Beast features soft boiled egg, oxtail dumplings, smoked brisket, and hoisin glazed short rib. They also have a Vegetable Ramen that is packed full of tasty veggies!

If ramen isn’t your thing, Underbelly also has some notable non-ramen dishes. The North Park location has a more extensive menu than Little Italy so be sure to check out the menu before you decide on a location to visit. At the North Park location, we tried the Chicken Karaage Rice Bowl which was absolutely delicious! It featured tasty fried chicken, cabbage, furikake, kewpie mayo, and nori.

Seating at the North Park location is limited, with much of the available seats being on their outdoor patio. Underbelly North Park is located right next to Modern Times Brewery so if you’re feeling hungry after an afternoon of tasting craft brews, pop on over for a bowl of satisfying and delicious ramen!

OB Noodle House Bar 1502 was voted San Diego’s Best Asian Fusion Restaurants and for good reason! It is one of two locations in Ocean Beach, but Bar 1502 has revamped the style and atmosphere. OB Noodle House is owned by the Yeng family who immigrated from Southeast Asia. Their mission for their restaurant is to provide simple and delicious foods served quickly…and they deliver!

This restaurant was featured on the Food Network’s Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives and had Guy Fieri raving. OB Noodle House is known for their signature pho bowls and Asian-Fusion dishes. Pho is a healthy and popular beef broth, rice noodle soup and is heavily flavored. This dish is served with Thai basic leaves, bean sprouts, jalapeños, and a lime on the side. If Pho is not the meal for you, try any of the Saigon Fried Rice dishes with tofu, vegetables, chicken, pork, beef, or seafood!
